About us

Micre is a non-profit association that aims to promote entrepreneurship projects that encourage social inclusion, economic and financial sustainability, in Portugal and portuguese speaking countries, through microcredit.

Microcredit is a concept created by Muhammad Yunus, in the 70's, inspired by the mutual tradition.  "Today 90% of the shares Grameen Bank belong to the rural poor it serves and 10% to the government of Bangladesh."

Our values:

humility, altruism, creativity and resilience.

Our goal with MICRE is to get underserved people to have access to microcredit, which is a  loan up to € 20,000 in Portugal available to unemployed people looking for their first job, small business owners and other people living in poverty and whose condition prevents accessing to banks and traditional means of financing, because they lack assets that can offer as collateral and / or credit history.

Often microcredit frees people with low income from the clutches of moneylenders and the difficulty in getting employed (and generating income). This new concept of credit provides, with great success, the development projects of small businesses and "self-employment", which provides people with access to credit the possibility of creating a business and generate income and, in many cases improve their living conditions and out of poverty.
